The Field Kit

Something happened to you. The proper first act is not belief and not dismissal. It is logging. This is the book's discipline, made usable by any reader — a notebook that cannot quietly rewrite itself.

Why hashes? Because embarrassment is the great destroyer of evidence — and so is editing. Every entry in this kit stores the SHA-256 fingerprint of the entry before it. Change one word of one entry, ever, and the chain breaks visibly at that exact spot. Your journal becomes tamper-evident by construction: the same standard this book demands of every device, protocol, and medium it examines. Applied to you. Applied to us.

Where does it live? In your browser's local database, on your device, full stop. No account. No sync. No transmission. Export it as a sealed file, print it as a dossier, or burn it — those are the only three exits, and you hold all three.

The chain

Empty notebook. The proper first act is not belief and not dismissal. It is logging.

HEAD: EMPTY · Every entry stores the hash of the one before it. This notebook cannot quietly rewrite itself. Neither should you.

Care note: if what you are logging involves grief, fear, or experiences that are disrupting your sleep, health, or sense of safety — the log can wait. People first. This kit is an evidence practice, not a substitute for the human and professional support that difficult experiences deserve.
